Ryan Essex Honored as the First Recipient of the Essex Excellence of Achievement Award

GLEN ELLYN, IL, March 22, 2023 – During the 48th Annual Meeting of the Asphalt Recycling & Reclaiming Association (ARRA), February 27-March 3, 2023, in Litchfield Park, Arizona, ARRA honored Ryan Essex with the Essex Excellence of Achievement Award.

The Essex Excellence of Achievement Award was established in 2021 to recognize and honor long time ARRA Member and Past President Ryan Essex. Over the years, Essex served on committees, the Board of Directors, and most recently chaired the Semi-Annual Meeting for almost 10 years. Essex exemplifies what a dedicated individual and volunteer is to not only ARRA but also the industry.

 This award will honor a dedicated and outstanding leader for their immeasurable contributions in volunteerism and service to the asphalt recycling and reclaiming industry and more specifically to ARRA. The Essex Excellence of Achievement Award will be awarded periodically at the discretion of the ARRA Board of Directors. 

During his term with ARRA, Essex exemplified the meaning of contribution, commitment, and excellence. He tirelessly made improvements to ARRA enhancing member experience and optimizing value. As an example, his leadership brought ARRA to new heights by redefining our Pavement Recycling Summit, formally the Semi-Annual Meeting, program. Essex dedicated nearly 10 years of his tenure to continuously improve the Pavement Recycling Summit by attracting the best speakers at new and exciting venues.

Essex was also instrumental in the development of Roadresource.org. He envisioned an interactive platform where users could learn everything there is to know about ARRA, the International Slurry Surfacing Association (ISSA) and the Asphalt Emulsion Manufacturers Association (AEMA) processes. These associations culminated a world-class site assisting our industry in marketing our products.

Essex is currently in his 28th year The Miller Group of companies, currently serving as President since January 2022.

ABOUT THE ASPHALT RECYCLING & RECLAIMING ASSOCIATION (ARRA):

Incorporated in September 1976, ARRA’s primary function has been to promote the recycling of existing roadway materials through various construction methodologies, to preserve limited natural resources and reduce costs. This ongoing effort continues through education, strategic alliances and partnering at both the industry and agency level.
