The Asphalt Recycling & Recycling Association (ARRA) held its 2022 Pavement Recycling Summit in Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada, September 26-29. The Summit, formally known as the Semi-Annual Meeting, had 155 registered attendees that included contractors, suppliers, and government agencies from both the US and Canada. These attendees learned from industry leaders, participated in committee meetings, took a tour of Walker Industries facility, where they participated in an ARRA discipline Workshop , and enjoyed a cocktail reception at Wayne Gretzky Winery & Distillery.

The Pavement Recycling Summit would not have been made possible without the dedication and commitment from the Program Committee. Thank you to Program Chair, Bryan Ray, and committee members Trevor Moore, Steve Cross, Zach Robinson, and Kimble Stokes.

Additionally, the Summit would not have been made possible without the generous support of its sponsors. A special “Thank You” to all the 2022 Pavement Recycling Summit Sponsors. Both Roto-Mill and The Miller Group sponsored the Wayne Gretzky Winery & Distillery Offsite Reception. The registration bag, which included the attendee gift was sponsored by McAsphalt. Ergon Asphalt & Emulsions sponsored the videographer, who recorded all presentations. The Wirtgen Group sponsored the lanyards, while Superior Tire & Rubber Corp. sponsored the room key for attendees staying at the Marriot on the Falls. Southeast Cement Promotion Association sponsored the Summit’s mobile app and Caterpillar sponsored the Wi-Fi. Caterpillar, Engtec Consulting, and Forta sponsored the Summit’s morning coffee breaks. Lastly, there were eight general sponsors, which included Astec Industries, BLS Enterprises, Inc., Global Emissionairy, Garrity Asphalt Reclaiming, Ingevity, McIntosh Perry, Nouryon, and Triple A Milling.

ARRA would also like to acknowledge the Asphalt Emulsion Manufactures Association (AEMA) member, Walker Industries, for graciously welcoming ARRA to tour their facility to learn what they are doing to be sustainable. Attendees saw many different parts of the facility, where they were able to learn more about Walker’s process of harnessing landfill gas, organics processing and composting, mining aggregates and asphalt manufacturing.  The Workshop included four stations related to ARRA disciplines. Miller Paving provided equipment that covered CIR and Cold Recycling; Cold Milling and FDR equipment was supplied by Roto-Mill; Mix Design was reviewed by AME; and QC/QA was discussed by Engtec Consulting.

It wouldn’t be an ARRA event without some fun and networking! ARRA attendees participated in an off-site event which was held at legendary NHL player Wayne Gretzky Winery & Distillery. Some attendees even explored all of Niagara Falls has to offer!

Members and attendees have access to PDF versions of the presentations on www.arra.org. All presentations were videotaped and will be added to the website once available.

Mark your calendars now and save the date for the 2023 ARRA Pavement Recycling Summit, October 2-5 in Indianapolis, Indiana! More information will be available in early spring of 2023.
