Looking Ahead to the 2021 ARRA Semi-Annual Meeting
Tuesday, August 3, 2021
After the success of 2019 and 2020 Semi-Annual Meetings, the Asphalt Recycling & Reclaiming Association (ARRA), supported by the South Carolina Department of Transportation, is excited to be back in-person for the 2021 Semi-Annual Meeting, October 4-7, in Charleston, South Carolina hosted at the Francis Marion Hotel. Program Chair Ryan Essex and Co-Chair Bryan Ray, along with the entire Semi-Annual Meeting Committee, have worked hard to create a program based on innovation to benefit ARRA members and non-members, while providing local and state agencies with content to learn more about ARRA’s disciplines. Set to Keynote the meeting on Tuesday, October 5th, is Rick DeBruhl, sponsored by Astec Industries. DeBruhl is an award-winning network television broadcaster who has interviewed and reported on both business leaders and front-line employees. DeBruhl turned a side hobby into a career in race broadcasting, covering events from Formula One to the Pikes Peak International Climb. Combining that wealth of experience with a master’s in Media Management gave him insight into helping any business innovate and grow by improving the way its people communicate. Debruhl’s Keynote presentation will recognize that before you can innovate you must know how to effectively communicate. Tuesday’s sessions will also include presentations focusing on The South Carolina Experience – Partnering & Innovation to 100% Roadway Renewal and The Tools for Implementing a Recycling Program. On Tuesday evening, attendees will have the opportunity to attend a Cocktail Reception at the South Carolina Aquarium, sponsored by Caterpillar Inc. Attendees will have exclusive access to the Aquarium where they can visit over 5,000 animals from a wide variety of ecosystems. Attendees can also catch up with their colleagues while overlooking the Charleston Harbor. Wednesday will showcase ARRA’s four disciplines with presentations focusing on success stories as well as concluding results on NCHRP 9-62 and AASHTO guide specifications and best practices for CIR & CCPR. Attendees will then have the opportunity to head to ARRA Member Ingevity’s laboratory for an offsite tour sponsored by BOMAG. Attendees will learn more about Ingevity’s plant while also rotating through different stations in their lab focusing on various asphalt market applications. To conclude the meeting on Thursday, attendees will hear from industry leaders focusing on Innovation & Artistry in Engineered Cold Planing and Let’s Talk Efficiency & Environment in Innovation.
