ARRA Board of Directors Meets Virtually for Winter Board Meeting

On February 2, 2021, the Asphalt Recycling & Reclaiming Association (ARRA) Board of Directors met virtually to conduct association business and discuss ways to implement the 2021-2023 Strategic Plan.

During the meeting, the Board reviewed and discussed the various ARRA committees and their activities. The CORE Committees are being restructured in 2021.  See the separate article in this issue for more details. 

One topic of conversation was the PPRA Sustainability Committee and their efforts. They are currently working on developing a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) for Asphalt Emulsion. Once the LCA and Product Category Rules (PCR) are completed, ARRA hopes to provide a system to help its members with developing EPDs for submitting proposals for projects.

Past President Darren Coughlin also provided a summary of ARRA’s partnership and contribution with FP2. Coughlin is the current ARRA representative that sits on the FP2 Board. He shared that with ARRA’s contribution to FP2, it helps ARRA’s disciplines be part of NCAT’s Test Track.

In December 2020, the ARRA Board held a Strategic Planning Session to review the 2017-2020 Strategic Plan and discussed potential changes. After discussion, the new Strategies for 2021-2023 were approved.  They are:

              1) Engage ARRA Members to Create Value for their Companies and the Industry

              2) Be the Education and Innovation Leader in the Recycling and Reclaiming Industry

              3) Be the go-to Resource for Agencies/Contractors Regarding Recycling & Reclaiming

The Board also developed sub-goals to help accomplish each strategy. During ARRA’s Annual Business Meeting which will be held at the 2021 AEMA-ARRA-ISSA Annual Meeting, the Board will discuss each strategy in more detail. The Business Meeting will be held in conjunction with ARRA’s Award Ceremony on Thursday, February 18 from 2:45pm to 4:00pm CST.

The next ARRA Board of Directors Meeting will be in June 2021.
