Heading West for the 2019 ARRA Semi-Annual Meeting

The Asphalt Recycling & Reclaiming Association (ARRA) will be holding their 2019 Semi-Annual Meeting in Monterey, California, October 21-24. Attendees will have a chance to hear from industry leaders, network with peers, see a live demo of a quarry blast and participate in stations focusing on ARRA disciplines all while enjoying the pleasant microclimate of coastal Monterey.
To kick-off the meeting on Tuesday morning, attendees will hear from keynote speaker Sue Dyer, President, OrgMetrics, LLC, she speaks on collaboration within the industry. Attendees will also hear from Jon Epps, Executive Associate Director, Texas A&M Transportation Institute. Epps will reprise his presentation for the 2019 TRB Annual Meeting as the Thomas B. Deen Distinguished Lectureship recipient and speak on “Innovation Asphalt Pavement Technology: Paving the Way for the World’s Roadways.” Tuesday’s schedule will also include two presentation on Roadresource.org: Dan Patenaude, indus, will provide a glance into a day in the life of a Super User and Dr. Andrew Braham, University of Arkansas, will explain how he has used Roadserouce.org in his classroom. Committee meetings, a Government Agency Roundtable, the ARRA Business Meeting, and Suppliers Meeting will complete Tuesday.
Located just minutes away from the Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa on the historic Cannery Row, ARRA has planned for an off-site event at A Taste of Monterey sponsored by ROADTEC Inc. Attendees will have a chance to taste a variety of wines all from Monterey County, enjoy hors d’oeuvres and network with other attendees while taking in the breathtaking views of the coast.
Wednesday morning will include presentations on an ARRA Award Winning Cold Central Plant project, why Sustainability is more than just a buzz word, and hear from Mike Robinson on the real value of Value Engineering . Mike Smith, Pavement Recycling Systems, will speak to attendees on culture-based safety. After a morning filled with presentations by industry leaders, attendees will head to the A.R. Wilson Quarry Tour. Here, attendees will have a chance to see a live quarry blast and participate in a workshop focusing on several of ARRA’s core disciplines: Cold In-Place Recycling, Cold Central Plant Recycling, Full Depth Reclamation, and Cold Planing. Attendees will rotate through four different stations, viewing equipment and learning from industry leaders.
The meeting concludes Thursday with presentations including Jean-Martin Croteau, Colas Canada, speaking on the importance of continuous improvement; Tom Chastain, Wirtgen America, discussing automatic milling performance measurement; Dann Rawls, Caterpillar, sharing information on leveraging technology in transportation and managing materials; and Jorge Campos, Pavement Recycling Systems, speaking to attendees on supplemental compaction.
