Greetings from Southern Utah. We are in the thick of the season and with temperatures rarely dipping below the 100 degree mark, we are feeling the heat in the high desert. As always, I hope that everyone is having a favorable year and that we close out the next half strong!
For our members who were unable to attend the last meeting, I’d like to reiterate a special “thank you” to Pat Faster for his dedicated service and time committed to ARRA. Serving three years as President, three more years as Vice President and 10 years on the board, he has made a substantial impact on the furthering of this industry. We truly valued his contributions and would likely not be in the same position without his devotion and direction. Thank You Pat!
Now that the ambitious initiative of the PPRA is up and running, I want to encourage all our members to utilize and pass along RoadResource.Org. I have been excited to promote and apply this excellent resource throughout our industry. This two-year plus project consumed countless volunteer hours and relied on contributions from ARRA, AEMA , ISSA, CM Services and our consultants over at Vario. Its intuitive design makes navigation easy and effective for all who wish to expand their knowledge of our industry. Hats off to ARRA member, Eric Baker, Jonathon Pease, John Rathbun, Ron Wilson, John Danello, Ryan Essex, Kimble Stokes, Marco Estrada, Dan Patenaude and of course our Technical Director Steve Cross in the making of this combined effort. It is truly a “one stop shop” for all innovative and sustainable pavement applications and one that we can provide to advise agencies and decision makers looking to determine the right choice for preserving their roads. From the Treatment Toolbox to in depth How-To guides, life cycle calculators, publications and easily attainable resources the PPRA has outdone themselves in creating this resource. I hope each member will familiarize themselves with the site and invite you to provide this resource to those interested, I promise it is worth your time.
On the horizon is the next ARRA semi-annual meeting in Norfolk, Virginia – October 15th through the 18th. This “By ARRA, for ARRA” meeting, spearheaded by Program Chair Ryan Essex, is an excellent opportunity to expand our industry knowledge and best practices. You don't want to miss this as we have an action-packed schedule with workshops, tours, presentations from industry leading professionals and mentors from around the world all geared around improving our businesses. It will be a great opportunity to interact with others in your industry and stay on the cutting edge of your discipline. I look forward to seeing you there!
Fulfilling some of the strategies and goals developed in the strategic plan, ARRA is planning a webinar series, with the first webinar on Healthcare, the Affordable Care Act, and the impact on businesses scheduled this September. In addition, ARRA is developing some new membership marketing materials in preparation for launching a "Member-Get-a-Member" campaign which will help our goal in growing membership and being the leading voice for asphalt recycling and reclaiming. Watch your email for additional details, coming soon!
Thank you to all ARRA Board Members and Committee Chairs and our PPRA associates over at AEMA and ISSA as we continue to move forward with innovation and integrity in our combined efforts to provide “Better roads today. Stronger networks tomorrow”.
Please feel free to contact me if I can be of assistance in any way.
